They began July at Biddy Mulligan’s in Dover. The show included a guest appearance by Cassidy Bisson. The post-show-party lasted well into the daylight hours.

The band rocked back-to-back nights at Shin Pond Pub in Patten, Maine, with a performance in between at the Vacationland Estates anniversary party in Island Falls, Maine.

On August 13th, Paul and Leigh ran sound for the Spose show at Post Road Tavern. Friday they played at City Limits in Sanford. Saturday afternoon they performed at a benefit for Miss Molly, alongside Tether and A Fire Anthem. That night they performed for another energetic crowd at Brian Boru’s in Portland.

They were back in Portland the following weekend for an awesome show at the Flask Lounge.

They celebrated the end of Summer at Brethauer Fest, sharing the stage with Honky Gabacho, Rachel and Kuato.

The non-stop gigging the past several months has paid off. They recently purchased some new equipment, and they are eager to put it to use. So far, Autumn has been just as busy, but the guys are looking forward to things slowing down enough this winter to record a new album.

Syndicate19 also managed to make it through the entire summer as a three-piece. Mike Tomasini’s hand has been slow to heal, and other personal events have led to his decision to leave the band. Although, he is missed, we understand and wish him the best. He played a key role in the creation of what is Syndicate19.

June was a very busy month for Syndicate19. It started at Inn on the Blues a colorful bar with a great atmosphere on York Beach. Joe, the owner, is a wonderful host with attention to detal and a friendly staff.

It’s a place where people go to actually listen to good music. Syndicate19 plays a diverse selection of covers, so there was something to please the wide age gamut that fills this place.

Syndicate19 and Dave Matthews fan Jeff Perrota helped Paul sing “Too Much” during the third set.

A few days later, tragedy struck. Mike, the second guitarist, broke his hand, so the guys had to play without him at the Green Room on the 13th of June.

They had to drop a few covers that Paul didn’t know the guitar part to, but for the most part they made it through the night without many hiccups.

By the second set, which included a full block of originals, people were filling the dance floor. At the end of the night the crowd was literally begging for more.

On a drizzly Thursday night the following week, the guys played a small, sophisticated place called the Flask Lounge for the first time. As usual for new venues, people were intrigued by Leigh’s massive electric drum kit.

Paul once again did his best to compensate for the missing guitar parts. “Beautiful Dead,” a Syndicate19 original, really captivated the small crowd.

The third set began with Jessica, the owner of Flask, sitting in on drums for Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So.”

The next day, the band and a crew of 12 people headed to New York for a festival called Nikstock. We arrived well after dark. We quickly set up camp and joined a huge crowd of people around a bonfire.

We’re not afraid of a little water and electricity!

We woke to the sound of rain and the first band setting up for sound check. Syndicate19 performed on a muddy, wet stage around noon. Most people seemed to be listening from their tents, trying to stay as dry as possible. The rain never let up, but everyone stuck out till Sunday, before making our mud-covered journey home.

May was a fairly busy month for Syndicate19. They started the month off with a gig at City Limits in Sanford on the first. Mike wasn’t able to make it to this show, so the other three had improvise a bit and opted for some simpler covers in place of some that really need Mike. Paul had some family in crowd that night including his Aunt Ruth, who sang a few songs with him.

On the 7th, Paul had a solo acoustic gig at the Brickhouse in Dover. He did a great job, and managed to keep from getting drowned out by the hip-hop show upstairs.

That Saturday, the band played at Post Road Tavern in Ogunquit. Anthony Vito Fiandaca opened for them with an eclectic mix of covers and original songs on acoustic. The crowd wasn’t quite as big as what Syndicate19 is used to at this awesome venue, but it was a great night just the same.

The guys had back-to-back shows on the weekend of the 15th and 16th. On a quiet Friday night they were at Slim’s Tex Mex in Rochester. The following night they were rockin’ Shooter’s in Lewiston. The patrons at Shooter’s were very enthusiastic about the band’s original music.

They played at Biddy Mulligan’s on a warm, early summer night on the 21st. The windows were open and people were enjoying the music inside as well as out on the patio. Unfortunately, the neighbors across the river were not interested in hearing the music, so the windows had to be closed. However, this didn’t stop the crowd from letting loose on the dance floor.

Thursday May 27th, Paul, Mike and Randy performed unplugged on a local news program called “207″ on NBC. Check it out WCSH6 Local 207

The band finished the month off with a great show at Brian Boru’s in Portland.

I am looking into transportation for this event so we can go as kind of a field trip of sorts. Minus the chaperons. This is a 2 day event with over 40 bands. Camping is included in the price and you can bring your own food and beverages. Just no glass! Here are a few of the details I’ve worked out. We will be leaving on Friday the 19th @ noon. Tickets are $25( not including gas if you are riding with us) and are available @ open mics and shows. If you want to go with us on this delinquent field trip. Let me know!

The festival starts on Friday during the day and if you ride with us you will miss some of the events. We should be arriving sometime around 7pm Friday night. We will be returning Sunday night of the 21st.

Also here is a link to our song “Wake” you can download this for free. Wake

You can also buy our latest Album “Don’t Wait” on I-tunes and Amazon.com

It is nearly summer in Old Orchard Beach, and it could be felt at Referees Sports Bar. The door was open to a pretty full bar when Syndicate19 arrived.

The guys got to work unloading and setting up. As usual patrons curiousity peaked as all the equipment came in, especially with Leigh’s electric drum kit.

Meanwhile, at the back of the bar a woman started rocking out with spoons, clicking and slapping away to songs being played on the juke box.

Syndicate19 started the first set at 8:30 with a cover of Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” and people were instantly on the dance floor, which didn’t stop bouncing all night.

Laurie, the spoon player, was called up to jam with the band on “OBC.” She picked right up on the beat and was an awesome addition to the song.

The second set had a bit of a rough start with Brian Wilson, but they recovered pretty quickly. A cover of “Closer” got everyone up and dancing again, including the coolest 70ish year old couple. There is nothing better than older folks who still let loose and have a good time.

Syndicate19 took an early break and then started the thrid set with a Beatles cover. They also played a lot of originals during this set including “Huh?,” “Stupid Monkey” and “Don’t Wait.” After they played “Don’t Wait” a blond woman in the crowd yelled “Man, you guys rock! You’re too big for this bar!”

The next night the band played at a new place in Windham called Club 302.

It’s a really big place with a nice stage. They instantly filled the room and got people on the dance floor. The band played an extra long set at the end of the night and included some originals they hadn’t played for a while like “Sun.” Syndicate19 was full of energy and having so much fun at this awesome club that they gave away a couple of shirts by throwing them into the crowd. They are definitely looking forward to playing there again in July.

Upcoming Shows

Jimmy the Greek ’s

On March 27th, Syndicate19 was back at Jimmy the Greek’s in Old Orchard Beach. The huge stage allows the band to spread out and set up in a line. Jimmy’s also has a some cool house lights, which the guys decided to use since Jacob, the light technician, wasn’t able to make this show. They added a couple of their lights, and had a borrowed LED light which attached to Leigh’s drum set.

Visibility was especially important, since Gary Lowell was there with a couple of cameras, trying to capture some video for the band. You can check out what he got at: http://ctsphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/7742998_4zQ82

Also, Mike Lyttle, a friend of the band, brought his beautiful sunburst Gibson Les Paul Deluxe for Paul to play. Paul rocked out on it the entire first set, and it sounded sweet!

Post Road Tavern

Syndicate19 played to another filled room at Post Road Tavern on Saturday, April 4th. Despite false information about a $10 cover, plenty of people came out to show their support.

However, there were fewer bouncers this time, but they weren’t needed. Everyone was too busy dancing and having a great time to cause any trouble.

The band started the second set with “Black Betty,” which always calls girls to the dance floor. Once they start tearing it up, it’s easy to keep them moving, which the band did!

Andy MacLeod, of Lower Village People, was is the crowd, so the guys insisted that he sit in on vocals for Dave Matthews’ “Too Much.” It was an awesome performance!

The third, and often heavier, set started with “Megalomaniac” by Incubus and ended with back-to-back Rage Against the Machine covers. The audience was pumped throughout!

Gary brought his cameras again to capture more video. Randy Russell also brought a camera to help get footage from other angles. Can’t wait to see the outcome!!

Biddy Mulligan’s

Syndicate19 kicked off the night with a high-energy opening set at Biddy Mulligan’s on April 11th. They began with an original called “Prayer” and then went into Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl.”

The second set started with another original called “The News.” A cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer” got people on the dance floor. During a cover of “Good Times, Bad Times” by Led Zeppelin a couple of guys standing at the end of the bar told me that Syndicate19 was “the best band to play there in a long time.”

The third set was powerful, as usual. Plus, they unveiled “Stupid Monkey,” a new original.

At the end of this awesome night, the owner, Mike Murphy seemed pleased. He told the guys that they played the best version of the Beatles’ “Come Together” that he had ever heard. Can’t beat a compliment like that!

Upcoming shows:

Friday, April 24th at Referees in Old Orchard Beach

Saturday, April 25th at Club 302’s Grand Opening in Windham

Syndicate19’s weekend started with an injury. Friday afternoon Mike took another fall and, as a result, showed up at Slim’s Tex Mex on crutches with a sprang ankle. Fortunately, guitar players don’t need both of their feet to play.

Friday, the 20th was the band’s first time performing at Slim’s Tex Mex in Rochester. It’s a cool place with really great Mexican food, a friendly staff and a modest stage on the second floor. Various groups of people came in spurts. There was an early, mostly middle-aged crowd that was cheering throughout the first set.

The crowd was a bit more mixed for the second set, and they also seemed to be enjoying the band, judging from all of the nodding heads. The small groups of people that stayed for the third set formed their own dance circles, particularly around some of the support poles in the room. However, new fan, Zach, stayed front and center throughout the entire night, getting into every song. Some of the biggest crowd-pleasing covers for the evening included Everclear, Green Day and Nine Inch Nails. The band can’t wait to rock out there again.

Syndicate19 also had lively night at the Green Room in Sanford on Saturday. The place filled up fast and stayed that way all night. There were stray dancers throughout the evening, but the dance floor was bouncin’ for the third set. The only problem they had all night was that the circuit that the lights and video were on kept blowing a fuse. They should be able to work that out before they play there again on June 13th.

Both shows were streaming live this weekend, but they were finally able to make a major improvement with the sound quality at the Green Room. Check it out at www.ustream.tv/channel/syndicate19

The staff at Post Road Tavern was once again ready for a hoppin’ night with Syndicate19 on Saturday, March 14th. Due to a full dining room, the band was not able to begin the show until 9:45 (word of P.R.T.’s scrumptious food must be spreading).

As soon as the tables were cleared, the band got into an energizing set of covers. Andy MacCleod, of the band Lower Village People, made a spontaneous guest appearance, singing Dave Matthews’ “Too Much”.

For the second set, Syndicate19 tried something new by playing only their original songs for the entire set. Hearing their songs back to back, one could get a sense of the diversity of their music and how talented they are as song writers. This set was so dynamic and my favorite by far!

Another great night at P.R.T. came to an end, with a rockin’ third set of covers. Syndicate19 will be back at Post Road Tavern in just a few weeks, on April 4th.

Syndicate19 played at City Limits Saloon in Sanford on March 6th. The place was already pretty full when the band arrived, and it stayed that way throughout the night. Most of the patrons who had been there for a while stuck around to check out the band. A few of the regulars commented that Syndicate19 was not like other bands that played there, and they seemed to be enjoying the change of pace.

The highlight of the night was the performance of a newer original “Beautiful Not Dead”. It is one of the songs that the guys wrote for the RPM Challenge last year, but they never played live. Fortunately, they played it before Paul’s lingering cold got the better of him. During the third set he started to lose his voice, but Randy came to the rescue with another Tom Petty cover to finish the show.

The staff at City Limits is pretty cool, too. Jack, the door guy, was super friendly, unless you caused problems, of course. Which he prooved, when he quickly took care of a couple of small scuffles. Nicole the sole bartender that night was also very nice and attentive. Syndicate19 will be back at this fun, little bar on May 1st. Hopefully, they’ll be serving breakfast again by then!

Syndicate19 had a great night at Jimmy the Greek’s in Old Orchard Beach on Friday, February 27th. It’s a big place with a great stage and dance floor. They also have two different bar areas with soooo many different beers.

The first part of the night went well aside from the fact that Paul was having technical issues with his guitar. Fortunately, he was able to fix it during a break, so he could continue to rock out. Overall, they made a big impression on the crowd and can’t wait to do it again at the end of March.

This was also the first show in which new shirts were available. Brianne was dubbed the official “Merch Girl”, and she did a fabulous job displaying and selling Syndicate19 ’stuff’. The band plans to construct a snazzy display for merchandise in the coming weeks.

Syndicate19 had a fantastic, double gig weekend!

Biddy Mulligan’s Irish Pub

Friday, February 20th, they put on a show at Biddy Mulligan’s in Dover, New Hampshire. This was the first show with the new back drop, which looked great!

Even though there was a national act performing at the college nearby, they managed to pull in an enthusiastic, mid-sized crowd. What they lacked in numbers they made up for in energy. Once again the 3rd set had a packed dance floor, and I’m sure the cupcakes had nothing to do with it.

Yes, cupcakes… because Friday was my birthday. I wasn’t too surprised when they stopped the show and started singing “Happy Birthday”, but when the huge cupcake-cake came out I was definitely taken aback. The cake(s) were made from scratch by Chris Kennard and were the tastiest ever! My only regret is that I didn’t get a picture of it before everyone dug in. I guess that’s what happens when the photographer is off-duty for the night.

The only other regret would be that Mike had to play guitar with an injured hand. He had a bit of a fall while they were bringing equipment into the building. However, he managed to make it through the night with some ibuprofen and a chair.

Brian Boru’s

Saturday night they performed for the first time at Brian Boru’s in Portland, Maine. There was a private party being held in the upstairs bar area, where the bands play, so the guys had less than an hour to set up their equipment in the small, crowed space. After some shifting and eliminating they managed to squeeze in what they needed to rock the place.

The bar was packed until the very end, and there were people dancing from start to finish. Those that weren’t dancing were attentively boppin’ their heads. The night seemed to fly by. Syndicate19 had a great time and hopes to play there again!

Side-note

T-shirts arrived on the 23rd, and they are awesome! You can now purchace your choice of navy, red or grey for $10 at their next show.

Upcoming shows:

Friday, Feb 27th at Jimmy the Greek’s in OOB

Saturday, February 7th, was Syndicate19’s second show at the Post Road Tavern in Ogunquit, Maine, and it was just as exhilarating as the first one. They performed for an enthusiastic, near-capacity crowd with slightly less than ideal form.

For starters, Randy, Syndicate19’s awesome bass player, had the flu! He showed his true grit, though, and never let on that he was feeling so miserable. It’s going to take a lot more than nausea, aches and shakes to keep this guy down! Personally, I am in awe.

Also, Syndicate19’s second guitarist, Mike, had previous obligations that caused him to be late. The band had to play the first few songs without him, but as soon as he arrived he slipped on stage and joined right in.

Other than these matters, the band was ready to rock. They were also finally able to work out their technical issues to broadcast the show live all night on the web. You can check out the recording along with a special guest appearance by Cassidy Bisson, who hypnotized the audience with her rendition of Nine Inch Nail’s “Closer” during the third set at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/syndicate19

The Post Road Tavern prepared for the large turnout with extra security guys. These measures proved to be beneficial, as one inebriated patron became a bit overzealous on the dance floor knocking into speakers and people. The Tavern has a strict “NO-Tolerance” policy. So leave your anger, attitude and belligerence at the door. This is a place of untroubled merriment.

These good times are most evident on the dance floor, which was once again packed by the end of the night. Syndicate19 also had a great time, and they can’t wait to play there again on March 14th. It just keeps getting better!

Syndicate19 has been doing a lot of coming and going lately. It struck me that someone should be logging these events, so I have taken on the task of keeping the Sydicate19 “journal” up to date. Hopefully, these weekly postings will help everyone stay connected.

The Green Room

Syndicate19 ended the month of January at the Green Room in Sanford, Maine. None of the band members had ever been there, let alone performed there, so they had no idea what to expect. They found a good crowd of various age groups, all of whom appeared anxious to hear something new. S19 satisfied the audience with their eclectic mix of covers from multiple genres, and seduced them with their originals. During the first set, many heads were bobbing, but only a few people got up to shake a leg. However, by the end of the night the dance floor was hoppin’!

Joe, the owner, was also quite pleased and ready to book several more shows with Syndicate19. They seem to be a breath of fresh air from all of the indistinguishable, classic rock bands in the area. S19 is a good fit for a club owner who is trying new things to stand out from all the other bars.

The Green Room has plenty of pool tables, some comfy seating and a great dance floor. They also have a good size stage and tall ceilings, which was perfect for the light show. I only wish that they had more than one toilet for the ladies.

Toilets or not, Syndicate19 and crew had a great time and can’t wait to play there again!

Side Notes

January was a pretty productive month for S19. In between all their shows, they managed to record a song, create a logo and order stickers. The stickers will be available at the next gig, which is at the Post Road Tavern in Ogunquit. The last time S19 played there the place was packed and everyone had a splendiferous night!

I was in the park today with my four year-old daughter when she asked me where mama was. I told her that she had gone to vote which led to a long conversation about election day and how whomever gets the most votes gets to be President.

“Maybe mama will win!” she exclaimed.

I explained that mama wasn’t running and answered many astute questions about the folks who were. She asked if it happened every year and I explained that Presidents only run every four years. This led to many more astute questions about who ran in 2004.

“When I grow up I want to be President, or maybe a policeman” she said. And then, after a thoughtful pause, it came.

“Can girls be President?” she asked intensely.

Of course I told her yes, if she worked hard and led an honorable life she could be President one day, but I couldn’t bring myself to talk about bigotry and how throughout history woman were considered the “lesser sex”, and still are in many cultures. I think though, judging from the direction and intensity of her questions, that she already senses it, even at four years old.

It felt a bit dishonest and icky to avoid addressing the questions she was really asking, but the idea of having that conversation, a conversation that could potentially undermine her self-confidence at such a tender age… well, it just breaks my heart.

I chose instead to hope that by the time she’s old enough to learn the truth about these things those truths will be, at least partially, behind us.

BTW, if you haven’t already done so, I beseach you, please get out and vote.

Below is a link to Obama’s 30 minute ad

Here is my dilemma. Media Spin. We don’t know who to trust. These ads and the spin all feed on our emotions. I know because I am really emotional. When I watch these kind of ads it is what I want and feel in my heart should be. So I get choked up. We all want to be part of something great. Here is the kicker. I can’t rely on any of this to be true. Both candidates have lied on a number of issues in there campaign against each other and that means they are lying to us. I also understand why they do this. It is just very discouraging. I’d like to vote with my heart but truly the best way is to look at the facts. Voting records and public hard data. Where do we as Americans find that. I don’t care about all the spin and what other people think. I want to think for myself. So where are the facts I say? One of the places I’ve found on the web to check facts is http://www.factcheck.org/. But still I do like Obamas idea to make everything available online for us all to see. Good Idea. That means I don’t have to dig for it. I can see it. All bills on the table, voting records, money taken from lobbyists, and pork. I want to see it all. These people should be held directly accountable. After all they work for us. Vote how you want just remember We can’t trust any media 100%. So when you think you know based on hearing it. It’s possible it’s just a lie. Unfortunately this leaves me very confused.

We had a great time @ the event and met a lot of really cool people like Bart Steele songwriter, performer, producer and sound guy. Bart has an interesting story. He is actually suing Bon Jovi and MLB for $400 billion dollars. Read more here. Here is a video of an interview with Bart Good luck to Bart. We also met Mike Davidson of Mike Davidson Recording He was I believe one of the judges that day. His website looks pretty cool and he has a good amount of gear. Mike was friendly young chap. Check it out. We also met some people from WERS 88.9FM :: Non-Commercial Radio from Boston, MA

The battle was at the “The Greatest Bar” in Boston. The place was pretty swank. Have a drink there some time.

It was nice to be in the city for the day. We left Wells, Maine around 9:30 a.m. and got home around 1:00a.m. It was a long day but well worth it. We ended @ A Denny’s somewhere off the highway. This is when the whole crew starting passing out. Long day. Late night. Denny’s. = Sleep!

So in the last post you find out we have an open mic. The day after we got the open mic, the club that was hosting it CLOSED! Uh What? Yep. Closed.

Small town politics is killing art in this country. We may not be fine art but we are artist’s. We express the sign of the times, reveal current frustrations and lend vision to the future. It seems that the people running these small towns want everything to be perfect. Small towns with nice houses and properly dressed people. I can’t wait until we are all the same. Marching like pigs to the slaughter. Wearing the same clothes, and listening to the same music(crap). The real problem is that people like us are plenty but we don’t involve ourselves in local politics we leave it up to other people. Even that is not the real problem. We are so busy with everything else we feel we don’t have the time. So the people with nice cars and property, who feel the need for a little bit of power do it for us. I feel that most politicians aren’t in it for the right reasons. They are in it for power and control. Hence the current state of government in the United States. They aren’t getting anything done. They are worried about themselves and not us. They are full of crap and very few can be trusted. Which leads me to another topic.

When talking about politics most people feel like they know the truth of it based on what they see and hear in the news and sometimes get into a belligerent conversation calling the other side names. I have lost faith in the media in America and I would like to reveal the truth. My question to you is who do you believe? Who can you believe? The candidates? The Media? Everything is spun. You know not the truth. So how can you argue a point of view when the information you get is false or at least unverified. One thing I heard Obama say recently was that we need to make our Government more transparent. Put everything online. Every document! Then we can find out the facts ourselves. How about we start talking to each other instead of listening to the news. Shut it down. Listen once a week for an update and start talking to each other. Republicans Democrats and Independents. Calmly talking and explaining ourselves and our thoughts and stop recycling other peoples opinions. Have one of your own based on the local people around you. I am sick of the spin. I just want one media outlet the reports just facts. I don’t want to hear anyones opinion I want my own. I’m sick of the negativity in the Media. We know things are messed up. Hearing it everyday creates fear in our minds. Once you’ve realized things are bad in this country. Turn it off. Change yourself. Do what you can to help others. Take the negative chant out of your lives. If we start from within we will spread this far and wide.

There I said it. I feel better.

Thanks,

Paul Chase Jr.

I have written scant few politics posts throughout the years, mostly because I’m not as much of an ideologue when it comes to politics, as say, technology.

For most of my adult life, I have been republican-leaning. There was even a period of time in the mid-to-late 1990’s when I very, very wrongly thought that republicanism and protestant Christianity were intertwined - and ascribing to the latter meant that you had to be part of the former. It is still a systemic viewpoint that pervades today in many evangelical protestant churches - which is a whole other post for a whole other day. Needless to say, there’s a lot of people that seem to skip over some of the completely obvious meanings in words in a letter Paul wrote to the church in Thessalonica that is included in what came to be called the New Testament, to “prove all things; hold fast that which is good;” in politics, in science, in relationships.

I still mostly vote republican. But I’m far more moderate across the board as I get older. I have a mix of viewpoints on every major issue that combined together don’t fit any political platform. And they certainly aren’t binary. Life is a lot of shades of gray. And shades of gray don’t fit into a sound bite……..

To read the rest of this go to Jay’s Blog There is even some video and discussion on the topic. I think it is brilliant.

Peace,

Leigh Leavitt has been working on an amazing solo for a couple of weeks and under the pressure of the the last week spent an amazing amount of time practicing leading up to last night. In my opinion he was an obviously dominate force and will be one of 2 to move on to the finals next week in Portland on Tuesday the 14th @ 6:00p.m. This will prove to be a bit more challenging being that these drummers also moved on to the finals. This will be a show for sure. Don’t miss it. Come out and root for your favorite drummer. Mr. Leigh Leavitt!! This is what happens when you practice and focus yourself with vision. We are all capable of amazing things when we put our mind to it. So don’t be afraid just jump write in and learn to swim as you go. peace, Paul

There is an email going around today that discusses some populist alternatives to the $85 billion bailout of AIG. I found the idea intriguing, if unrealistic, and I thought we could have a discussion.

What do you think of the bailout? How would you use the $85 billion to help the economy? Here is the email in it’s entirety (props to T. J. Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic):

Update: As noted in the comments below by attentive readers, Birk needs to check his math. $85,000,000,000 divided by 200,000,000 is $435, not $435,000.

Update 2: Below Birk refers to the $85 billion AIG bailout. The bill that Paulson and the Bush administration are floating to Congress today is for $700 billion. That would put the individual total at $3,500. Methinks I could pay down some debt with that.

The Birk Economic Recovery Plan

Hi Pals,

I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it’ll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent’s medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+, including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it…instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( “vote buy” ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.

Sure it’s a crazy idea that can “never work.”

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion
We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh…I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

Kindest personal regards,
Birk

T. J. Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it’s either good for a laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!
